Sun Life Stadium is home of the Miami Dolphins. Sun Life Stadium has been the home of the team since 1987. Although the stadium has stayed the same, the name hasn’t always been Sun Life Stadium. This is actually the 6th name the stadium has been given.
When Sun Life stadium was built, it was titled Joe Robbie Stadium. It would stay that way from 1987 to 1996. In 1996 it would be changed to Pro Player Park and then Pro Player Stadium from 1996 to 2005. From 2005-2006 it was renamed to Dolphins Stadium and then again renamed to Dolphin Stadium from 2006 to 2009. From 2009 to 2010 it was renamed Land Shark Stadium. On January 20, 2010 it was officially named Sun Life Stadium.
Sun Life Stadium has hosted 5 Super Bowls, 2 World Series, 3 BCS National Championship Games, and the 2010 Pro Bowl. The Miami Dolphins also share the stadium with the Florida Marlins, Miami Hurricanes, and the annual Orange Bowl college football game.
